Does a voltage converter continually draw electricity even when its attached devices are not in use?
I have a 1000w 220-110v continual use voltage converter that has a power strip with several devices plugged into it. Does the voltage converter continually draw the 1000w or is it just drawing electricity based on the devices attached?
Yes...anything with a standby circuit or transformer in it will draw current, even when nothing is plugged into the load side.
The current draw in the idle mode will not be 1000w, in fact normal loads may not draw 1000w, it all depends on the individual power ratings for the different items plugged into the converter at any given time.
