DJ Lighting - please HELP!!!?
Hi everybody. Please help me I'm desperate I want to learn how to use all the DJ Lighting, from par cans to scanners, from controllers to software's and DMXs. If you can refer me to a good free informational site or something like that or if you want you can sent me the information typed up in an email. So if you can help me out in any way please do .

Hi, I'm assuming you have the lights and DMX cables. But if you don't, start here: http://www.bandstagelights.com
Let's start with the lighting control board. If you've got a decent board you'll have about 8 channels and a joystick for a DMX controlled spot.
1.) Let's start out with 2 LED stagewash DMX lights. (if you don't know what they are, refer to the sight above - Chauvet makes really nice stagewash LED's). You'll plug a cable from one to the other. There will be a male and a female recepticle on each of the lights, however your DMX cable once it's plugged into one of them, you'll be left with no choice but to plug in to the correct socket on the other light.
2.) Turn on the lights. We're not gonna plug into the control board just yet. What you're doing now is finding out which of the lights is the master and which is the slave. On most high end lights there will be an option for sound activation. Turn it on! Since I'm not there with you, this is the part where you're going to mess around with the settings until both lights are responding in the same pattern to sound activation. That's when you've got the DMX working as a master and slave set up.
3.) On to the next step - (but I've got to admit, being in a band step number 2 is the way to go... we never use our control board and it's a really nice one). OK you're going to turn off sound activation on the light that was the master (the slave should be turned off if you got it to work properly). On the master light, you're going to run another long DMX cable from the light into a channel on your control board. Turn on the board. Play around with the slider and the buttons. Once again since I'm not there I'm not really sure what options you have at your disposal. You'll get the hang of it.
