May it be true that if your subs are drawing a lot of power while driving in the city, alternator fails?
I had never heard of such a thing as your subs drawing power to where your alternator will die if your only driving in the city around 30-40 mph. I had been told to only crank system on highway because of this but i wonder if its a myth. 1000 watts -2 12's in trunk, no capacitor, suitable wiring and ground, everything else is stock.
Abuse your alternator enough, and it will die. It did happen to me. Twice. Once in my 94 blazer, and once in my 90 celica. Both completely stock, then added a hundred or so amps of current draw and a couple weeks later, boom! Dead. No chargy. So, the question really is, How old is the vehicle and has it ever been replaced?
Second, i have to say, I like how everyone talks about "doing the big 3", like they really know what they are talking about, and why it is important, and how many 700$ woofers their friend has, and how many cheap bs amps they can throw on there that have absolutely NO way WHAT-SO-EVER of producing even close to 10, 000 watts on a stock battery and charging system. If he reads this again, you are a liar sir. Or your friend lied to you. I really wish people wouldnt lie.
