Suggestions for lighting in 8 ft ceiling room with beams?
We have a room in our house that has standard ceiling height - maybe 7-8 feet, with exposed beams (2 of them) running the width of the room. Currently this room serves as a pass through / office. Previous owners had it as a dining room, so currently there is a chandelier hanging between the two beams, which we have to duck under to walk past. We actually pinned it up so we don't have to duck as much.
Any suggestions for lighting? We considered Track Lighting or sconces, but don't want it to mean too much work involved (ideally would like to switch out the chandelier with another fixture), but not sure what to look for.
The tricky thing is that the light that the chandelier gives off is perfect because it is lower than the beams, so they don't get in the way, but this room is not fit for a chandelier.
Any ideas?

I would probably install recessed lighting between the beams, that way they would be no lower than the beams its self. It could be made to look as if it belonged there with proper trim.
